All five partners and 16 employees from BMK Wilson’s Glasgow and Dunblane offices will join WJM’s Glasgow office, representing an 18% increase in the larger firm’s headcount.

The move follows a similar merger with Inverness-based McArthur & Co that was officially completed a year ago. While the merger has been identified by WMJ as a way to expand into the Highlands, the Glasgow-based firm said the BMK deal will help facilitate its plan to strengthen and grow in private clients, commercial real estate, corporate law and dispute resolution. .

WJM chief executive Liam Entwistle says this latest merger is part of the firm’s planned strategic expansion. “WJM and BMK Wilson are firms with a great heritage and pedigree. The combined firm will build on this for the benefit of all its clients, strengthening its position in key strategic areas.

BMK Wilson was founded in 2002 when three partners and a consultant from the former John Wilson & Co joined Borland Montgomerie Keyden, itself an amalgamation of three of Glasgow’s oldest firms: Borland Johnston & Orr, Montgomerie Flemings Fyfe. McLean & Co. and Cayden Strang and Co.
Following the completion of the merger, WJM said it would have 28 partners, 56 commission agents and 52 employees across four offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dunblane and Inverness.
