The owners of Skeleton Key Marina, originally built nearly 50 years ago, plan to redevelop the 1.07-acre site at the west end of Clark Street into a 43,600-square-foot “condotel,” according to preliminary plans filed with Pasco County . A condotel is legally a condominium, but operates like a hotel.

The owners, Greg Sheridan and Minh Chau Dang of Skeleton Key Management LLC, bought the property more than two years ago for $1.35 million. Sheridan and Dang are executives with a Maryland-based office-support company called Metro Office Solutions.
The marina’s origins date back to 1968. A previous owner rebuilt the marina building after it was destroyed by fire in the 1990s, and the current owners rebuilt it last year. The site consists of a nearly 2,900-square-foot, two-story building that serves as a retail store, wet slips, dry-dock storage, marine fuel sales, floating docks and a snack shack on a canal to the Hudson Canal and Gulf of Mexico. It is adjacent to the popular Sam’s Beach Bar and Pasco County’s Robert J. Strickland Memorial Beach Park.
The new plans call for a 60-foot-tall, three-story building totaling 24 units above ground level parking, a gated entrance, wet slips, a real estate leasing office and “possible pavilion, pool and or other on-site private. Entertainment amenities.”

Sheridan and a planner and consultant are scheduled to meet with the Pasco County planning staff Tuesday to discuss the project. The owners of the marina did not respond to requests for comment.

Edgewater’s woes go back nearly a decade.
