We sat down with Project Manager Dalton Olson and Cass County Housing Authority Deputy Director Derek Johnson to get the latest on how the project is coming together. The project will be opened in June 2021.

A – The highlight of working on this project was seeing how excited the owners and developers were when we toured the buildings. Every week we will take a walk and tell them how happy they are to have a new home.

Q – Some of the common areas are the community room and the community entertainment room. How do you keep seniors safe (with COVID-19) in these areas?

A – We are constantly monitoring the various local, state and federal guidelines regarding COVID-19 and make decisions about the use of these common areas based on the current guidelines. There are several gathering areas throughout the building that are well ventilated and allow for social distancing.

A – The financial impact will be enormous for seniors living primarily on Social Security. Residents pay 30% of their adjusted gross income in rent, and the remainder is subsidized by the Housing Authority through the Section 8 program.
