– The New City Supportive Living community in Chicago welcomed its first residents this year, and Spring Street Community in White Oaks, a memory care community that opened in late 2014, closed out its first year.

The 35,000-square-foot portion of the building now leased to Slinky has been vacant for several years. But Slinkee’s owners expect it to be full of life in early February.
On Thursday, Slinky ordered its first party in early March. According to Fuselier, a discount is available for parties or travel reservations made by Feb. 18.
The new location will have larger, more private party rooms than before. There are party rooms in blue, green, orange, pink and purple. It also has a larger room for field trips or groups of 100 or more.
So far, Slinkee’s new space has had cosmetic work. Many walls are painted in bright colors. This week the sign rises. Still, some more painting and walls need to be knocked down and moved around.

For now, Fuselier said they are waiting to get a building permit from the city, which he said is a “no-brainer” to move the process along as quickly as possible.
After the lease at the Slinky Mall was abruptly terminated in early October, the Fuselier family, which owns the Slinky, moved everything from its former location to a building on South MacArthur Drive. According to Fuselier, the plan was always to sign a lease with Rod Knowles Property Management and stay there. Fuselier used this to house his business.
Another Slinky location of Fuseliers is in Jacksonville, Florida. They briefly considered moving from Alexandria to another city in the state or to Mississippi.
Going forward, Fuselier said he wants to expand Slinky’s reach to older teenagers. He said the city offers “nothing” for this age group other than going to the movies.

In addition to the inflatables and other activities previously offered, the Slinky will feature bazooka ball, which Fuselier describes as “paintball without paint,” and indoor putt-putt golf, which is not offered anywhere else in Alexandria. They are intended for older children, teenagers and young adults.
In the summer, Fuselier said there are plans to install a “Ninja Warrior” obstacle course similar to the one on the popular TV show. Other new activities include trampoline basketball, space and airball.
There is still no cost for adults, and admission for children is $8. There is also an option to pay based on the activities that individuals want to pay for. For example, tickets for just putt-putt golf or other long-running events are available.
“It’s cleaner, the parking lot is better, it’s going to be brighter (lit),” Fuselier said. ” … Everything is just 100 percent better.”
