The 8pm Update on Tuesday, September 27, 2022: As of tonight, the Sarasota-Bradenton-Venice area is now under a hurricane WARNING. ·       The preparations should be ready. ·       Our area should begin to experience tropical storm-force winds early Wednesday morning. ·       The storm track appears to have shifted a bit to the south. ·       It is important NOT to focus only on the runway centerline, which is a statistical center point based on various runway models. ·       The storm itself has a large wind field and extensive and intense streaks of rain. According to the National Hurricane Center: A life-threatening storm surge is possible along much of Florida’s west coast. 1.    Residents of coastal areas should listen to the advice given by local officials. In Sarasota County, A&B evacuation zones are being evacuated. 2.    Tropical storm-force winds are possible in our area as of Wednesday morning, with hurricane-force winds likely on Wednesday 3.    Heavy rains will increase in western Florida on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday fair. Our office is currently closed. We will remain closed on Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 29 for the duration of the storm. Our on-call service will be activated and have been notified. Updated National Hurricane Center charts and storm path models are included in this message as of 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 27.
