Anticipate the future with your next design – Go Electric. Electric motors are quickly becoming a viable alternative to linear motion in industrial applications. Key considerations to keep in mind when choosing electric and pneumatic actuators: ✔ compatible mounting interfaces (if updated) ease of integration, accuracy ✔ flexibility and ✔ location needs. Pneumatic cylinders are typically not equipped to handle complex positioning problems and will only be accurate to within a few millimeters, while an electric motor can achieve accurate positioning to within a tenth of a millimeter. Although possible with pneumatics, applications requiring multiple positions, each with different motion profiles (acceleration, acceleration, deceleration), are impractical. This is easy with an electric cylinder, as it can be set to multiple positions with different motion profiles for each. Metalworking Electro ISO motors are based on standard ISO 15552. The external design and dimensions are very similar to ISO 15552 pneumatic cylinders. This means that many standard fittings for pneumatic cylinders can be used to mount the Electro ISO actuators. Motor options include STEPPING and BRUSHLESS motors. A key differentiating factor when choosing a metalworking supplier is our ability to manufacture and supply custom adapter flanges and interfaces if the customer wishes to use a specific motor brand.
