J.H.W. came up with challenges on day one, and honestly I had no idea what I was doing. I had a skill that I was really good at but didn’t know how to turn into profit on my own. I had no real mentors to turn to; they were too focused on how I could help them with their idea; they “stalked” while I wandered. It wasn’t until I focused on defining success and then identifying the course to achieve it. My focus shifted from chasing idols to pursuing goals.

In Charleston, South Carolina, J.H.W. Enterprises Property Management is a reliable and trusted commercial multifamily property management company. For investors, J.H.W. Enterprises provides third-party property management services, including capital improvements, project management, tenant management, lease reviews and financial analysis. The company currently manages a total of 507 units, with an additional 300 units expected to be under management by July 2022. J.H.W. Enterprises manages communities in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Maryland, with a portfolio totaling $32 million.

Inauguration J.H.W. came from a fight or flight mentality. Losing was not an option. I was faced with unequal odds. Black and entrepreneur is one thing, but black, entrepreneur and facing a felony charge is another beast entirely. The truth is that I am where I am today because I asked questions – I asked the right questions – I just asked questions. I needed a lifeline.
Meet Jaymes Mccloud
I never had a desire to open a business. I was content working a 9-5, collecting a pension and living an everyday life excelling in my field. It wasn’t until I was faced with adversity that I was forced to see my true potential. This journey has not been easy. After working my way from a leasing agent in Charleston, SC to a regional manager and development coach in Atlanta, GA, and being stripped of everything in the parking lot of Wild Wings in Augusta, GA; I had no choice but to dig in and find a way to provide for my family.
My first client (who has requested to remain anonymous) heard my story from beginning to end. I left no stone unturned. From that conversation, my business grew from 1 unit to 112 units under management. The reality was my willingness to be transparent, my commitment to not accepting failure as an option and my mindset to see it through no matter what.
You have a choice in life, and that is to pursue your purpose. Often asked the question, “what is your purpose”, this is a question I ask myself daily, but I know my pursuit is not infinite. God has always been my source; I have the support of the kingdom, which means that everything I ask for, everything I see, everything I strive for is mine!
My wife asked a question recently, “Are you afraid of going broke?”. My response was almost immediately “No, I’m afraid of losing my freedom.”

I have to recognize my wife of nine years, Jessica McCloud. About four years ago, our life changed in a matter of hours. The course we planned for our family no longer existed.
