Real property information is stored in a variety of information systems, repositories and formats. Although some useful property information has been captured and specific performance measures developed, a comprehensive real property framework with a range of performance indicators is not yet available to support informed decision making. Furthermore, it was found that real property information is not always accurate, complete and fully utilized to inform real property investment decision making.

The audit concluded that although progress had been made in responding to the recommendations of previous internal audit and third-party reviews, more emphasis should be placed on completing those recommendations. Additionally, the Department lacks an effective and efficient approach to managing its real property portfolio. More importantly, significant efforts are needed to improve the quality of information used to make decisions in the life cycle of real property management.

The findings and conclusion are based on a comparison of the circumstances, as they existed at the time, against the established auditing principles agreed upon by the management and are applicable only to the audited entity and the scope and period covered by the entity. audit.
