This property management business is Tim’s retirement job. Tim retired from teaching high school woodworking and carpentry in 2014. Tim loves helping people and started this endeavor by recruiting some family friends. Tim had owned his own rental property for 35 years and realized there was a need for these services in his small community of El Dorado. Although the retirement gig has not slowed down his work schedule, in his spare time Tim enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events and concerts, as well as spending time with friends who usually hang out for dinner at his favorite restaurant.

Sherry is a fan of our office! He is happy to help our employees, owners and tenants with their running errands. Sherry retired from teaching kindergarten in 2010 after 33 years. In addition to keeping us all in line, Sherry enjoys volunteering to teach 1st graders at church and making photo albums for her grandchildren.

Nick enjoys the property management business and all things real estate, from researching newly managed homes to meeting potential tenants. He enjoys developing relationships with owners, sellers and tenants. Outside of work, Nick cheers for the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs, attends as many concerts as possible, plays the piano, and improves his knowledge of country music history. Taking priority over his love of work and fun is his love for his wife and daughters and going to all their events.
Maria is the brains of the operation and loves everything about running a small business. She is the “Queen of Numbers”. Outside of work, Maria is busy driving the kids to all family activities and just being a super mom. Her hobbies include volunteering as PTO president, running Vacation Bible School at her church, and serving on the Circle District Board. Her favorite way to spend her free time is hanging out with her parents, siblings, nieces and nephews.
Amber has been working part-time at Engels Property Management since January 2019. He loves that everyday is different and enjoys working with both tenants and owners. Amber has been married for 15 years and enjoys attending all three of her children’s activities! Traveling and exploring new places is his favorite hobby. Tim Engels is a Butler County native who grew up in Benton and has lived in El Dorado since 1977. Graduated from BCC (’75) and Emporia State University (’77) with industrial arts degrees. Tim has an MA from WSU (1990). He taught carpentry and forestry at both EHS and CHS for 25 years. Hundreds of students have learned to build woodworking projects and houses under his instruction.
Tim is a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, where he has served as a cantor for over 37 years. He is a current member of the Knights of Columbus. He serves on the El Dorado City Planning Commission and is a building inspector for the City of Towanda. As an educator, Tim sponsors Skills USA, is a member of the CNEA Negotiating Team, and co-chairs the CNEA Scholarship. In 2007, he was selected as a “Master Teacher” for $375.

Tim has been married to Sherry, a $490 retired kindergarten teacher, for the past 35 years. They have 2 sons (Nick and Marcus) and 5 grandchildren. Both sons and daughter-in-law, Maria (Nick’s wife), are expected to help their father manage the estate as needed. Tim and Sherry have owned rental properties in Butler and Sedgwick counties since 1992 and managed other properties since 2009.
