In light of the devastation of Houston and surrounding areas from Hurricane Harvey, Elmington decided to add another fundraiser to their list in 2017 and partnered with Hatching Hope. Hatching Hope is an organization based in Birmingham, AL that provides supplies to residents of community shelters who have been displaced due to natural disasters. We have raised over $3,000 for this cause and hope to raise more.

We learned about this opportunity from Dan Ford, President of Elmington Property Management. Pelotonia is a 100-mile bike race to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research. When we saw that Dan was riding in it, we knew we had to join. Elmington raised over $3,000 for Dan’s season, blowing his goal out of the water!!

July and August 2017 brought what we call the “Double Donation Feature”. We have chosen to make both products and donations. We held our second annual Build-a-Backpack competition and raised over $5,000 worth of school supplies. For our products, they are allowed to donate to the organization of their choice. The office has chosen to partner with LP Pencil Box, an organization where teachers from the Metro Nashville school district can shop for supplies for their classrooms and their students.
Our third official event is coming up this year! We once held our food drive where all the companies participated. This year we chose to pit our District against each other (we love a little competition around here!) and received over $5,000 worth of donated cans.
After one of our employees lost her husband to diabetes, we chose to support the American Diabetes Association this June. After sending out an email about where our donations are going, it’s amazing how many of our employees have gotten to share stories about how their lives have been affected by blood. sugar, whether personal or otherwise. We raised almost $3,300 for this cause.
Our first Elevates event for 2017 is FunRaise for Heart, FunRaise for Stroke. This special event was one of our largest donations, coming in at $6,830 in donations!
Our Events — Elmington Elevates
After the great success that was the 2015 Toyfest, we know a few things: we want to do bigger things, and we want to continue them better. We moved to a bigger location, contacted more sponsors, and got more volunteers. We ended up with more than $20,000 in donations, both internal and external and with that money benefited more than 300 families. We can’t wait to see what next year brings!
During the 2016 floods in Louisiana, Elevates decided to add one more event to support the Red Cross in their relief efforts. We set a beautiful goal and within 24 hours, it was met. We decided to make a goal, and once it was met, with more satisfaction! It’s amazing how our employees come together and share their “Done!”s on our return emails…it’s almost become a competition! We raised over $5,000 for the flood and had 270 employees – over 1/2 the company – contribute.
We competed our products to come together and create a tote bag together during the August 2016 Elevates Event. Many of our products have gone beyond this competition, providing backpacks for the whole family and, in some cases, their whole community! We ended up with a total of 600 backpacks made and 164 workers who helped.
We achieved our goal in 2016 for annual canned food and it paid off! We have a total of 8,000 free cans throughout our offices and archives.

Elmington partnered with Charity: Water in the spring of 2016 to bring clean and safe water to people in developing countries. 153 supporters raised over $2,800 for this cause.
2015 was our first year to host the Happy Toyfest and we did so in partnership with the Woodbine Community Center and the Midtown Police Precinct to benefit the children of Edgehill homes.
In 2015, we had 38 outside participants, $11,950 in outside donations and nearly 1,800 toys given to families at Edgehill!
