It’s invaluable to hear how other marketing teams – large and small – are innovating and adapting these ideas to our market.
In the afternoon, the conference officially started with the opening session. We heard from Charlie Young, President and CEO of Coldwell Banker, about the power of the CB brand and its new mission statement (We empower our people to leave their mark on the real estate world). He also reiterated Coldwell Banker’s four core values: real estate, intelligence, excellence, and awesomeness. Liz Gehringer, COO, spoke about women in leadership and announced Coldwell Banker’s sponsorship of the upcoming WomanUP conference. Colin Jost, who you may know from Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live, made us laugh (very hard), and Nick Vujicic, a man born without a limb, told his story and inspired us to overcome challenges . Our staff celebrated dinner at Momofuku (from celebrity chef, David Chang) with dessert from Milk (Chang’s partner and Masterchef judge, Christina Tosi ). It means a lot to me! It’s common knowledge across the board that I’m a foodie, and it’s nice to check another restaurant off my bucket list (two if you count the Milk bar). I had the best chicken, tuna and pie (called “crack pie”) of my life.
The second day of Gen Blue is all about learning. With so many courses, it was difficult to choose which sessions to attend, but there was one that our team couldn’t miss. Our very own Kate Dabbs, Senior Director of Marketing and Strategic Initiatives, spoke on the “Video Killed the Analog Star” panel about video strategy to Coldwell Banker employees. I also attended sessions that introduced new Facebook advertising tools for agencies, discussions with tech experts, tech tool updates, and marketing lessons on selling with storytelling.
