Here’s why I prefer to hire veterans: I’ve seen first-hand the work ethic. I have seen what happens when you give someone a state or desired dream and get out of hell. But more importantly, I have seen first hand when people are committed to a mission. Nothing gets in the way. People become useless. Obstacles are just something to do, and move on. They do not stop development. But all this compared to an important abnormality. # Veterans start asking what else they can do. Some of it is because they want a challenge. Some of it is that they are used to get 20 different responsibilities. It’s all because they want the team to succeed. Because the team is everything. We are individually designed for the team. It is the opposite in the corporate world. It is the custom of the individual. It is normal to be selfish about yourself. In fact, I have had to tell veterans that they now have the right to self-destruct. But you can’t take the army out of the soldiers. Once there – it’s always there. Some may not understand. But I’m happy to share my experiences with a #recruiter or #hiringmanager on why a #veteran is the best fit for your business. Will I always be able to hire a veteran over someone with significant industry experience? no. I am not unrealistic. But you can be sure that I will try my best. There’s a reason Simon Cenk talks about how Cell chooses who’s on his teams. It comes down to performance and reliability. And in his video, he learned that moderate performance and extreme confidence is extemely more important than high performance and low confidence. That’s all it is. In service, we are taught to trust our brothers and sisters from day 1. And that process begins where we want to care for each other – and see others succeed at themselves. I am not going to make any announcements about # veterans I plan to hire. When the time comes, I won’t have to. The evidence is for all to see.
