Applying this standardization allows us to account for the fact that it costs more to live in some states. For example, the average salary for business analysts in California is $96,550 and the average salary in Oregon is $83,780, but the Illinois salary actually goes further in paying the necessities of life.
For development and overall ranking, we ranked each state from 1 to 50 for each criterion where 1 was the best.
Then we averaged all the rankings for a state into a job score and the state with the lowest job score gets the distinction of being the best state for business analysts in America.
