According to the survey, the average salary worldwide is $72,228 for women and $66,305 for men, with women’s salaries being 9% higher than men’s. The majority of respondents were between the ages of 25-35, with 40% female, 59% male, and 1% non-binary. 40% of the respondents had a university degree, 35% had a master’s degree, and the rest had an associate degree, with only 2% having a Ph.D. With the age group of respondents leaning on the younger side, nearly 80% are employed as a full-time business analyst. Most of the 46% with 2-10 years of work experience are employed. In countries like the USA, Australia, and the United Kingdom with a high salary package ($94,343), most BAs work with a minimum of 10.5 years of work experience. Career opportunities as a business analyst are many, with some major specializations such as data analysis, information security, IT, quantitative analysis. Therefore, BAs have many career opportunities making business analyst one of the most sought after jobs. Almost 80% of respondents to the international survey worked in the private sector, while the rest were distributed among education, government, and non-profit organizations. The top industries that hired business analysts were IT, healthcare, banking, and transportation, with all of these sectors paying an average global salary of $82,100. BAs from these countries demonstrate superior problem solving, critical thinking, decision making, and other dynamic skills. BAs practice agile methodologies such as Scrum, Scalable Agile, Lean and Kanban, and DevOps. Almost 90% of business analyst jobs require nothing more than a bachelor’s degree. Although qualifications are not a factor in many open positions, obtaining a qualification increases career opportunities such as fair pay and promotion. About 60% gained recognition within the first six months of employment and the rest within one year. IIBA surveys show that BAs with at least one certification earn 13% more than respondents without certification.
